I've been doing stuff... swear.

I know I haven't been adding any new posts lately, but I have been pretty busy with quilty-stuff (as well as non-quilty-stuff). I promise. I just haven't had the energy to take any pictures yet, and well, that's my favorite part, sharing all my fun/hard work with you peeps via the world wide web and digital photography. So... just keep holding on because it's coming. I swear....

Pretty in Pink...

Well, I didn't complete the intended quilt for last week, but I did finish up this super cute zig-zag quilt! And hey, a finish is a finish, right? Thought so...

I have still yet to master the photographing of the quilt so that it looks nice... bear with me please. I quilted 1/4" from either side of the individual zigzags with hot pink (duh!) thread
I machine stitched the hot pink polka dot binding (from stash) and I used a 400 thread-count sheet that I found at TJ Maxx for cheap-o(!) for the back of the quilt. It was nice not to have to piece a backing this time. And I think it still looks just as cute, if not cuter!

This quilt is PERFECT for any little girl who's got a little spunk and a little attitude... kinda like my little munchkin... but she has enough quilts for the time being. That's why this one is up for sale here in my Etsy shop!

There's a new quilt emerging...

Here's a little sneak peakery of the quilt that has been getting attention only every now and then between school-life, mommying, and wifeydom...

I hope to finish it up on Sunday along with a 29874597 other things on a list that has overtaken the front of the fridge... wish me luck!

Vintage Sunshine Pillows

I actually made this pillow covers a few days ago, but I haven't been able to post anything until today! These were SO MUCH FUN to make and I can't help but smile when I look at them! They definitely brighten up a dreary winter day. They are for sale here in my etsy shop! Enjoy!

I used two vintage napkins in PERFECT condition, some up-cycled pillow ticking, and the covers have a tie closure with vintage yellow ric-rac... fun, right?

Front of pillow, back of pillow...

Love them!

Look at What I Got Today!

Insert a stuck out tongue, nananabooboo, sppppllttttt, or evil laugh here... whichever suits your fancy. I won't judge if you won't...

I had about an hour to kill and found myself, all of a sudden, in a quilt shop. Imagine that. There was fabric and everything!

Anyways, I bought myself some goodies and pondered several ideas for quilts while inside this shoppe (I just decided I'm going to spell it like that because it's more fitting, more quaint, if you will)

One of those ideas was about starting an all-polka-dot quilt. If I just save one square from all the polka-dotted fabric I use (which is a LOT. I really like polka-dots) I should, one day, have enough for a superfantastic quilt, dontcha think? So consider it officially 'started'. (whatever that means, right?)

I also want to make a string block pillow cover (or 2), a set of matching pillow covers out of the vintage napkins I just found, a hexagon quilt, a duvet cover for myself complete with matching shams and pillowcases, and a quilt with circles. I came about all this while killing that precious little hour at the quilt shoppe.

I better get started...

Just A Few Things...

I thought I'd share just a few things that occurred over the last couple of days. Minus mentions of the laundry, cleaning, homework, preparing/making/serving/cleaning up of the meals and so on and so forth. However, Virginia Woolf would probably disagree with my blatant nonmention of meals and such, but I guess I'll just have to take it up with her. Please, read on...

So, the mail came on Monday...

... and in said mail I received all the fabric to make my cousin's queen sized quilt that will look something like this. Here are the beautiful fabric choices:

I also got some fun stuff of my own in the mail:

It's very boyish and out of my comfort zone so I figured I should give it a shot. However, it is extremely adorable, don't you think?
I tried to get to work right away with the new boy fabric and came up with these:

which I just happen to love. I'm thinking I need 9 total (3x3) with some white sashing and white thread for the quilting... just a thought for now.

And then my daughter happened to look particularly adorable this morning all wrapped up in tutus and feathers and "pretties" and some of my unfinished quilts that were super pink and girly and I just had to make a couple of these:

I find it's much more exhilarating and full of satisfaction for me to make a couple or three or four of something right when the idea and picture pop into my head. That way I know it won't get lost up in there or forgotten (eeeekk! that's the worst...) and I can come back to it when I'm ready and have the time. I used to try to go from start to finish with a lot of pressure and without any breaks... not really what being creative is all about, huh? Well, anyways, this works for me so that's what I'm gonna do. Mmmmmk?
